George Grosz

Just checked out the artist the BPJ mentioned in class today, George Grosz. Here's a link: http://george-grosz.com/ I love his political prints and other works.

beginner works

These images were a few of the very first prints I made this semester...and in my life! Now I am becomming a printmaker addict and am at peace with my decision to continue with litho in the fall. Print On!

work thus far...

So, per Maggie's advice, I decided to post some of my work - the new and the older stuff. The first print is titled "The New War Zone" and was inspired by recent events of bullying on my children's school bus. I felt the need to voice my feelings and I think this avenue is a good start. The second print is titled " The New Terrorist" and shows a schoolboy carrying books that give lessons in hazing, bullying, name-calling, and prejudice. I have not decided on the third plate in the series, but will post that as soon as I have it done and printed. I will also repost these pics when I learn how to do that better. ;)

I've got a link!

Yeah, I'm finally officially linked to the Grown-up blog, so I suppose I should post! I was happy that I got a start on my series today with hopefully a promising idea. The prints mean so much more when I can design them around events that are important to me and mine. It's too bad that I had to take off early today and did not get the opportunity to get a start in the acid. I am eager to get this first one done and getting it printed. ;)

printfever comment

posting my comment here, because printfever sight wouldn't let there...

it's great to see stuff like hers recognized and voices like hers heard.

satisfication

ok, less than a week into the brand new blog and already changed my template. never satisfied...I am lovin' this one though...like a breath of fresh air. maybe it's a sign...

creativity

I'm ready to get to work in my studio classes and stoke some creativity. Sometimes, my real life keeps me so busy that my spark is almost dimmed to nonexistance.
